Audition Info

Play Synopsis:

Disney's Frozen JR. is set to take Ellensburg by (snow)storm. Part of Valley Theatre Company's Rising Stars Production series, it will feature a cast of local youth in 3rd - 8th grades, playing 30+ parts.  There is also room for youth participants to help backstage. This enchanting modern classic is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is just the nostalgic story Ellensburg has been waiting for!

AUDITION TIPS:

  • Tips on Cold Reading:

    • Research the production: If it is a pre-existing script but you don’t know what part of the script or what character you are reading for, read the whole thing. You should always read as much of the script that is available.

    • Connect with your scene partner(s). This will help you slow down and really live through the imaginary circumstance. It will also make sure that you don’t keep your eyes on your script but bring them up to where the casting team can see your acting.

    • Show Variation. If you are asked to read for more than one character, make that character different from the last one you read for. And if you are asked to read for the same character more than once, find a different choice to make in the scene.

REHEARSALS:

  • There will be a break in rehearsals for spring break March 24 - 28th, 2025.

  • Rehearsals will begin on and generally run every night Mon-Thurs from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, and Friday workshops 5:30-7:15 through March. In April Fridays will start going until 8:30 PM as they near performances.

  • Tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and strike are mandatory. Evening rehearsals and performances can run later.

  • These will take place starting April 7 - end of performances. Performances are April 25, 26, May 1, 2, and 3.
